Amazing views!!

From the get go our guide Alan gave us all the information on the tour. Over 20 years mountaineering experience so a real pro. Once there the tour is a 3.5 hour hike with amazing views of both volcanoes, specially floored by the Popocatépetl. A couple of moderate climbs that compounded with the altitude can leave you winded but Alan was very understanding and waited for us to catch our breath to keep going. Totally recommended.
Great hike - but don't book here

The hike was fun! Albert was a cool guide and the views were super. But: Don't book through Viator. Book with the famous vacation apartment service! Viator says low price guarantee. But I found out that users of the competitor paid 21 euros less for the same trip - 89 instead of 110. The difference was not paid back even though I could prove it with a link to the other offer for the exact same experience. The low price guarantee is worth nothing!

Bernardo was a great and knowledgeable guide. Beautiful landscape and a wonderful rustic lunch on the way back.

Excellent hike, be ready for the real deal. We went up to 3820 meters height, over 13,000 feet. Take something to stay warm, once you stopped walking it may be chilly. The views are great

Went with my brother. The tour took us to the wonderful state of Puebla. The sights and sounds of seeing the active and dormant volcanoes were absolutely beautiful.

The hike was another thing. It was definitely an adventure. The guide indicated that it was an “easy” hike. Let me warn the non-hikers and city folks….it definitely had challenging moments. Our guide was young and went through this area numerous times. As a result, he was too fast for some of us in the group. We suggested that we slow down, which we did briefly, but the pace always picked up. Quickly going up in altitude was not so fun, as the body needed time to adjust. To reach the top, I believe it took almost two hours. When we reached the top, the group was exhausted, but we only had 15 minutes to rest until we had to go back down. Hiking back down was the challenging part for me, as we cut through some shortcuts, and a headache came through.

Again, this was the “easy” tour compared to all the other hikes they offer. I suggest to the inexperienced hikers, who are looking for a fun time, to make sure your guide slows down and is mindful of the whole group.

Our last stop was at Amecameca. We ate at a restaurant( El Conejo Alegre) in a rural area. The food was excellent. Just be mindful that the restaurant is very rural and did not have running water in the restrooms. It reminded me of some parts of Asia. It didn’t bother us and I enjoyed the atmosphere, but just something to be mindful of.

In terms of transportation, the van was old, the seats were loosely attached to the base. There was no AC on and I couldn’t get the windows opened. It got warm during the day, and being stuck in traffic for two hours with minimal ventilation was uncomfortable.

Not sure if I would do this tour again, but looking back, it was definitely a memorable experience.
