Oswaldo was our Private Tour guide. He has a very comfortable car, he knows Mexico City very well, he took us to many emblematic places and gave us food recommendations, he is also a very good photographer.

This tour provides a LOT of bang for the buck. I felt like it wasn’t described accurately on the website, so wanted to share.

We selected a noon tour option but we’re contacted by the tour company to tell us that the meeting time for all walks between 8am and 8:30am.

The tour package said only two people would be on the tour but there were about ten in our group. This was no problem for us and we got along with the other folks on the tour but it was confusing so I wanted to share for future guests.

You will meet the tour van around 8:30am in a northern neighborhood in CDMX. The van and your guide take you to a temple ruin in CDMX and then by 10:30ish you’ll be en route through the mountains to the pyramids. Before you get to the pyramid site, you will stop at a tourist shop less than a kilometer away. They’ll give you free shots of tequila, mezcal, pulque, and other Mexican liquor and then encourage you to shop for souvenirs. The souvenirs are nice enough - silver, obsidian, textiles, and more -but the sales people are a bit aggressive.

Then you’ll head on a guided pyramid tour for about an hour, followed by a leisurely lunch back at the tourist shop. This food was amazing, tbh.

Our tour guide, Javier, was very knowledgeable and friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. I’d happily hire him to show me around any site here.

Following lunch, you’ll drive back to CDMX for 60+ minutes and go to the gift shop of the basilica of the Virgin Mary and then to the basilica itself which is quite beautiful. After this, the van drops folks back in the city. This drive is about hour+.

Pros: very full day full of excellent information from our tour guide. Excellent lunch.

Cons: a little *too* long, too many mandatory sales pitches, van seats are uncomfortable, website is super unclear
