Roma
Head to the arty enclave of Roma; an area with a hipster edge, where you’ll no doubt fall in love with the perfect combination of colorful colonial buildings, Art Nouveau architecture, quirky bookshops, and veggie food spots. Maybe you’ll eat and drink your way through the district, cafe hopping your way through quirky coffee shops, sipping on a beer or tasting your way through the diverse food scene. Perhaps you’ll stop by Mercado Roma; a covered market where you can fill your tummy at some of Mexico City’s most popular eateries.

La Condesa
Perhaps you’ll check out the leafy green Parque Mexico for an afternoon in the sunshine, grab a snack from an all-day street vendor; like fresh coconut juice, juicy pineapples, or sticky sweet potatoes covered in cream. The city has such an incredible history, which is why you might like to start in Zócalo, an ancient square which used to be the center of the Aztec Empire before it was captured by the Spanish colonists. Follow your host around the surprisingly green broadways of the city center as they share its rich heritage with you.

• Admission Ticket Free

El Angel de la Independencia
Take in the famous sites nearby, like the Ángel de la Independencia, or stroll around another neighborhood, your host has got you covered and will make up for any Spanish you lack.

Mercado Roma
Street food is king here, so you’ll explore a neighborhood of the city and eat at various street food stalls and taquerías for a taste of the real deal. With dozens of varieties of tortas, pozole, mole, sopes and esquites to try, and that’s before you’ve even got us started on the dizzying world of tacos with their various toppings, salsas and garnishes. You’ll be glad someone’s here to show you the ropes. Feast your way through the streets and try the dishes which keep the city going at the places you know are authentic - it’s not hard to see, or taste, why CDMX has one of the best street food scenes in the world. And we suppose there’s always room for dessert. Fresh mango with chili, la concha sweet bread or churros, anyone?

El Parque
Keep your eyes peeled for the park’s Art Deco attractions like the ironwork clock tower, and end your day simply strolling through the streets, exploring their restaurants, street art, shops, and bars while your local guide shares stories of this fascinating city.

Walking the best neighborhoods in Mexico City
TJDavis59, 07-01-2023
We did a walking tour of the Condesa and Roma zones in Mexico City with Maria. We wanted to get acquainted with the area where we were staying and Maria did a great job. She gave us the history, pointed out places of interests, where to go for great food, took us to the local markets, and explained about the myriad of dogs (they love their dogs) and broken sidewalks (from amazing trees and past earthquakes). Maria was fun, positive, and very good at reading her guests. We were a bit jet lagged and she quickly modified our tour to adjust to our being tired. It was a great tour!

I had a great tour with Marisol. It was for 4 hours but time flew by so fast. By the end of the tour I felt she was like a close friend showing me around the city. Mexico City can be overwhelming but she was able to weave many interesting spots efficiently. Marisol has a background in architecture and history which I appreciated. I would recommend to my friends who are visiting the city.
