Mitch and Alberto were first class guides: they kept us safe; encouraged us along the way and kept us updated about the plans (although we learned to interpret Alberto’s version of ‘easy’ with care ).
Two bits of advice -
the effect of altitude is huge. If you are not used to regular exercise (maybe twice weekly workouts?) you are far less likely to enjoy the day.
the weather was very kind to us. Had it been cloudy and windy, it would have been much less enjoyable, so maybe look up the summit forecasts for Nevado de Toluca
But because we were fit enough and the weather was beautiful and our guides were excellent- we had a fabulous day that will live long in my memories
The guides were very helpful and informative.
They gave us snacks for the hike and brought us a rain coat and gloves cause we didn't have any.
We enjoyed it very much.
