Great one day trip with beautiful views

Great one day trip with beautiful views! The guides took their time to pace the group and explain the surroundings. It is a short walk but due to the altitude would recommend acclimatising at Mexico City for a few days beforehand.
Great trip!! Beautiful...

Great trip!! Beautiful scenery. Fabio was a great guide. I wanted to give him a tip but was unable to because he wasn’t at our drop off.
Definitely recommend!!
Highly recommend

Definitely recommend! It was pretty difficult getting used to the altitude but my god it’s worth the views, even the drive up in the mini bus is breathtaking. They take you to a place to get food and it was very cheap and tasty food
No Frills Tour Gets You Where You Need to Go
Lisa_B, 28-12-2022
You want to see a pretty volcano? You want do a lil hiking on aforementioned volcano? You down with a no frills tour? This one's for you.

I am a big Planner, I like to know details, how to dress, what to bring, what to expect. I found the tour completely lacking in this regard, so I hope this review will help the obsessive review-readers like myself to be prepared.

Clothing: I went in December, and it was chilly, but not frigid. I'd guess 40s, maybe 30s. You can get away with a single pair of warm pants/leggings, thick socks, hiking/trail shoes, a flannel, and a jacket. I brought VERY WARM CLOTHES like I was entering a winter wonderland and ridiculously overpacked.

Food: we went to a restaurant on the way back, approx 4 or 5pm. Recommend packing food for breakfast, lunch, hiking snacks, as well as ample water. I took 1 big water bottle and wish I had two.

Altitude: hike starts at approx 4000m and goes to 4200m or so. I'd call it a moderate hike in the US, but at that altitude it is ROUGH. I flew in from sea level the day before and let me tell you that was not ideal. I still had a fabulous day, just something I wish they mentioned in the tour.

Guide: the guide is an alpinist, not a chatty tour guide. He'll get you where you need to go, he is nice and happy to answer questions, but don't expect Tour Guide Style logistical details or interesting facts/tidbits along the way.

Did I have a great day? Absolutely. It made it very logistically simple for me to go get a cool volcano and nature day in! Just be aware the tour matches the price point: it's no frills but does the job!!
Awesome but not Easy

This is not an easy hike but you can do it. I'm borderline hypertensive so I was a bit worried. When you get to the first level you will want to give up. The guides are good and will tell you to go on; just take a breath and go on; you will make it. It is the thin air that will get your heart pumping. It is important not to do this a day or two after arriving in Mexico. The altitude takes some adjustment. Do this like day 3 and after while in Mexico City. Like a previous reviewer said, the guides could do more on the long drive and point out more flora and fauna. Once you are there, they will take you up a bit in the vehicle and then the hike starts. It is important indeed to wear comfortable clothes/shoes. I wear a nice pair of all terrain sneakers. I don't think hiking shoes are an absolute must. Note as well that there are no bathroom facilities, so you will have to go the nature way. You will take a couple rest stop on the way up to adjust your breathing. Once at the top, awesome view. Your hike down is much easier.
